Management Board

An 8-member board of advisors and managers, headed by the Founder and Managing Director and supported by Law Firm Neelakandan and Neelakandan are responsible for the operations and governance of the Institute. The Board draws from the extensive experience of some of the finest and distinguished professionals in development, banking and finance, social entrepreneurship, strategy and arts.

Guy de Fontgalland, Founder and Managing Director

Australian citizen of Sri Lankan origin. Harvard-educated investment banker and development strategist. Worked internationally for over 40 years in Asia-Pacific, Europe, Africa and Eastern Europe in senior executive and consulting capacities. Worked with Westpac Bank in Australia, Flanders Federation of Industries in Belgium, UNDP in Bangladesh and Afghanistan, World Bank-IFC in the South Pacific, with National Development Agency in Zambia and consulted to the Office of the Prime Ministers of Thailand and Malaysia.  Directed Entrepreneurship Development Centre London in collaboration with the University of London. Consulted to the Georgian Government’s National Investment Agency as well as the TBC Bank on FDI. Currently, President and CEO of Georgian Ventures and Investments Ltd in Georgia.

Sarath Amunugama , Member

Minister of Special Assignments in the Government of Sri Lanka. Senior politician and high ranking public servant for over 40 years. Held cabinet portfolios in Sri Lankan government as Minister of Public Administration and Home Affairs, Deputy Minister of Finance and Planning and was Secretary to the Ministry of State. Educated in Sri Lanka and in France, Dr. Amunugama has been a leading advocate of peace and economic stability and of national unity. His commitment to national goals has earned him high distinction in the country. His advocacy of peace building through development of all provinces of the country irrespective of ethnicity and political affiliations make him stand out as a national leader in Sri Lanka.

Dinesh Awasthi , Member

A reputed economist and development strategist from Gujarat, India. Served as Director of Entrepreneurship Development Institute of India (EDI) for over 15 years and played a crucial role in shaping the Institute into an apex body in India with a global focus. EDI, perhaps the single largest entrepreneurship research, education and training institution in the world, is sponsored by the Government of the State of Gujarat, State Bank of India, ICICI Bank, Industrial Development Bank of India, Industrial Finance Corporation of India and works closely with the Federal Government of India. EDI programs are funded by major donor agencies. Dr. Awasthi has built a massive reservoir of professional network in support of EDI and is a well-recognized authority on entrepreneurships development.


Jean-Francois Bijon, Member

Senior Public Servant and Diplomat of the Government of France who served as Economic Counsellor with the French Embassy in Ivory Coast, as Economic Counsellor and Trade Commissioner with the French Embassy in Malaysia, as Economic Counsellor and Trade Commissioner with the Embassy in Madagascar and worked with the Southern-Europe and Central Asia Desk of the Ministry of Economy and Finance of France. Dr. Jean-Francois Bijon was also Advisor to the Minister of Finance of Lebanon as well as Economic and Diplomatic Advisor to the Prime Minister of France. Dr. Jean-Francois Bijon is Sorbonne-educated, works currently as CEO of a Paris-based NGO for human development and is a committed professional with a brilliant track record in several countries.

Alex Lovell, MemberA

reputed investment banker who re-modelled and developed the Union of Bank of Colombo and served as its Chairman. He was awarded the MBE, Most Distinguished Order of the British Empire for his services to the investment banking industry in the South Pacific region. Chartered Management Accountant and investment banker by profession, Sir Alex Lovell holds chairmanship in all the subsidiary companies of the Union Bank of Colombo and has played a critical role in energizing the microfinance industry in Sri Lanka. He also built a network of Union Bank of Colombo branch network that took the banking services to farmers and entrepreneurs throughout the country.

Burke P. McCormack, Member

Principal of Ardmore Capital New York, a boutique financial advisory firm. A graduate of both Cornell and Columbia universities in the US, He has worked with Manufacturers Hanover Corporation, a predecessor institution to JP Morgan Chase as Vice President and Area Manager covering commercial and investment banking in Japan, Korea, Southeast Asia and the Indian sub-continent. His investment banking experience is across several European countries, Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) and major agencies such as Overseas Private Investment Corporation (OPIC) of the US Government. He is also an approved consultant to EBRD’s Enterprise Growth Program.

Shah Mansoor, Member

Founder and Executive Director of Social and Educational Services Organization (SESO) in Afghanistan. Mansoor is a capacity development specialist with focus on education, capacity building, training and mentoring, team building, communication and youth development. He has over 15 years of experience working in senior positions with the government, U.S. Embassy, USAID, private sector and international organizations. Mansoor holds a Master of Business Administration degree from Schiller International University in Florida, U.S. and a Bachelor of Information Technology from Preston University in Islamabad. He has also attended an intensive executive training program at Harvard University, USA, in managing non-profits.

Julia Krepska, Member

Founder and director of UK based NGO “Our Sansar” – a leading provider of homes and education to orphans and street children in Nepal since 2009. Multi-skilled professional with knowledge and experience in Start-ups, Operations Management, International Development, Fund-raising, Finance and Budgeting, Project Management, PR and Communications, Senior-level Relationship Building, Technology and Innovation, Negotiations and Strategic Business Planning. Krepska has demonstrated capacities in moving a project from start to finish and brings much needed skills to organisational development. She is a graduate in Business and Economics from UK and holds a Diploma in Japanese language studies from Poland.

Tanya Ekanayaka, Member

Tanya Ekanayaka is among Sri Lanka’s most distinguished internationally acclaimed and award-winning concert pianist-composers as well as musicologist and linguist. Dr. Ekayanayaka is a recording artiste and composer for Naxos Records, the world's second largest classical music record label, which released her debut album of original works for solo piano representing a novel genre performed by her and titled 'Reinventions: Rhapsodies for Piano' in 2015. She is currently working on her second album of solo works for the piano also for the same label. She is also a member of the part-time teaching faculty of Edinburgh university.
